The Importance of Staying Positive
Keeping a positive attitude is very important. Most people have been conditioned since early childhood by parents, other family members, teachers, fellow classmates at school, church members, the news media, and a host of others in your surroundings, to believe everything that you’re told, because it’s a fact. The repetition of all this information is what programs you to make it part of your being. A lot of what you are told over and over is simply not true. It’s just that this same information has been passed down from generation to generation with the assumption that it must be true because everyone says it is.
For example, certain family members might have had some kind of disease that was said to be of genetic origin, and people from the same family will undoubtedly have the disease from one generation to the next. You hear this over and over in your life. You can’t help but hear it and you can’t help but believe that it must be true, so you accept it, and then when you reach a certain age, you have the very same disease.
The point is that if you repeat a phrase or a statement enough times in your life, it will program your brain and it will become your reality. Another way of looking at this is that anything that is your point of focus for long enough will happen. What this means in one respect is that you can have anything in life that you want if you focus on it long enough or if you make a statement about it being your reality enough times. The statement must be made in the present tense as if it is already happening. And if you follow the statement with gratitude, you are assured of it becoming your reality eventually.
Unfortunately for many, negative statements are used instead of positive ones. The negative ones will come to pass just as easily as positive ones. You should always avoid negative statements in your life and also in meditation exercises. It’s also important to disallow people around you to influence you in a negative way.
All too often you will have a brilliant idea about something and want to share it with someone close to you. Perhaps it might be best not to share some of those things, just to prevent the onslaught of negative feedback. But is it in your nature to want to share good feelings with those whom you care about. If your friends and family are always supportive of your ideas and your dreams, then you are fortunate. But on the other hand, if you are hit with a lot of negative feedback when expressing yourself, you should tell that person that you are not going to allow them to affect you in a negative way. If this is something that you can’t do with the ones you love, then you are best not sharing all your ideas with them.
